L' Italiano.....

I’ve been twiddling my thumb and looking forward to this concert since I missed it’s debut performance in KL last year. Got off from work early to avoid the mad causeway jam and drove to the ‘Durian’ at Kiasu-land.

Yep, concert starts at 7.30pm but I was already there at 5.00 (lagi kiasu) enjoying a nice cool beer and a club sandwich at one of the many bistros overlooking the Merlion.

It was a good thing I booked the ticket before CNY because the concert was a sold-out.
By 7.00pm the crowd of mixed ages ranging from 20 plus to 60s dressed to the nines was already streaming into the concert hall orderly ushered to their seats. Quite a lot of them were silais….hmm..that’s the reason for the full house. I’m pretty sure our bunch of hiao-hiao blogger silais would find Patrizio Buanne very leng chai and a great baritone singer too…if you like oldies and Italian songs.

What really pissed me off was the announcement by the theater management that no photography or audio recording, mobile phone cameras blah-blah-blah any form of recording is allowed. They reserve the right to confiscate those items! Niamah!!! WTF!! I brought my camera and they tell me that I can’t even snap a picture of my favorite singer also ah? Blardy effing kiasu! So, I’ll just have to be guai-guai, contended with watching and listening and not risk having the bouncers throw me out.

The accompanying orchestra was up to the mark and the sound system was commendable. Most of all, Patrizio’s voice was impeccably wonderful. His rendition of Amore Scusami, A Man Without Love, Il Mondo was so beautifully delivered….and the women went crazy when he randomly reached out to them with a rose and a kiss. I was anticipating some silais to hurl underwears at him, but I was to be disappointed.

The showmanship was remarkable and he kept the audience captivated with his typical fast talking Italian accented english jokes, sing alongs and energetic dances that filled the hour and half long show. Towards the end, it was the usual ‘tarik harga’ encore, standing ovations continuous clapping to coax him back for the last couple of songs.
On the scale of 1-10…..I would rate it 7.

Comments:
Patrizio Buanne? ** whisper ** never heard of him. But, if he looks in person anything like the pic you posted, I guess it's high time I do! Wei, you really had me for a freaking moment. I actually thought you posted your own pic there!! Cocka relaxing by one of the many bistros in kiasuland......Too good to be true hor??

How much was the ticket? Nowadays, those concert organizers refused to let ppl to take pics. I think that is grossly farkin unfair!! C'mon, we're entitled to the memories too mar!! (after spending so much $$) I can understand the flash is distracting. Maybe they can just clarify no flash photography allowed lar!!

Like Helen, I too have not heard of this lengjai.. but since he's so gorgeous, should really get to know him.

You went w/out MOHA? You scared she will be the one who hurl the undies up to the lengjai?

Is he for sale or for rent? Per day or per hour or per service? Care to tell, please?

LOL. Now I know Cocka digs Italian hunks. Wondering.....

Never heard of him wor. But if that's him in the pic and that's his voice, then...YES!! more please!
But this song damn old wor, was Engelbert Humperdinck the original singer?
You went alone ke? Why never ajak us silais? :)

wahaiii.. cocka you "siong dang yan" ler. go for classical concert one. "hou lan chat yow man fa"

myself "sua ku" the most classical thing i have ever watched is hokkien opera at the temple nearby. got sexy showgirl before the opera starts somemore.

All the names here, be it songs or singer I never heard before. Shit, either I am too young, or just plain ignorant..

ah pek taikor, the 7-14 getai concert u got go or not one?

ahpek - Fuwah, I got like that concert mya video wor. Want ah? Or I put up in my blog and claim "Come see sex show?"

Hi Cocka, I am glad I've finally found someone, what more a man here, interested in concert, wow. And Patrizio Buanne, miss out on both his performances, and you are making me jealous mentioning his remarkable showmanship. I am regreting now for not making the effort to go over to spore for his concert. Love his rich baritone voice. I read it somewhere that he is the new voice of romance. Got most of his song in my computer and playing one now.Amore Scusami(My Love Forgive Me) beautiful song. 'A Man Without Love' I thought he sang equally good if not better than Engerbert Humperdinck.
Andre Bocelli, Il Divo are also my favourites. Got most of their songs too in my computer. Heard anything on whether they are coming here to perform??

Wah, got song summore ar?? I love Josh Groban... after watching Ally Mcbeal I went off to buy his CD! Wey, Original summore you know!! lol

Cocka, neh, your turn next to take over the bloggers story. You got 72 hrs to do it, so says the rule.

http://chanlilian.net/2006/02/25/chapter-3-of-bloggers-baton-story-bbs/

auntie, wah u got video ah.
faster put in your blog. of dare not means, ask wingz to put.
auntie, how come you not "cultured" like them one? next time take video of paravotti or something lah.

oi cocka,
i just came from auntie's blog, she password protected the story liao. so now you must kneel down in front of her and beg her for the password. if not you won't know what she has written. luckily, i read it before she sealed it. hahaha!! if she won't tell you, call me. i still remember parts of it.

Cocka - it is chapter3 ok?

Ahpek - I got Teochew opera wan, very cultured what? Me Chinese mah. And ker tai oso.

Helen...hello? mana lubang you've been hiding all this while ah? Never heard of him? Actually, I'm not surprise. Our local radio stations has always been playing stale songs over and over again.
You thought that was my pic ah? ROFLMAO!!!! Well, imagine him with moustache, there might be a resemblance. *wink*
Tickets range from SGD 50-120* I think. I bought the SGD75 ones. Luckily towards the end, patrizio was sporting enough to tell everyone to take out their cameras to snap a pic of him all at once.

ZMM...you pun mana lubang hiding ah? Yeah I went alone. If I bring MOHA, I'll make sure she don't wear any undies...so got no chance to throw at him! LOL

5xmom....No lah, I like his voice and singing only mah. Sorry wor, he is not for sale or rent. But cocka might consider your offer if the offer is attractive. LOL

King's wife....yes, the original was performed by Engelbert Hump-A-Dick (LOL). I think engelbert still has more depth in his voice than Patrizio's rendition.
Aiyah.. you all like concerts say so lah next time, I can bring you silais along.

Ah Pek....not siong dang yan. Odinary yan. Nowadays all those orlang songs how to sing? Rap only! To me rap is crap! So gotta change my taste liao.
You watch the hokkien opera or watch the girls? LOL

Poh Seng.....I think most of the songs are remake from the oldies. So, they are before your time. You are excused, hehe. 7-14 gertai? For devils to see wan ah?

5xmom...last time I went to makan at gurney drive, they even have a stage singing and dancing at the food court. summore the girls damn sexy-sexy wan.Nowadays still have ah?

Pt...thanks for stopping by. yes, this guy is quite new, so the concert tickets are still affordable. I attended Bocelli's concert 2 years ago in Singapore and it cost me an arm and leg! It's usually the case once they are famous.
I think the modern technology that goes into the recording these days has an immense effect. Engelbert's time was not so advance and I have not heard of his digitally-enhanced versions.
I've not gotten to like Il Divo that much yet because I felt that they are like one of those commercialized boy bands. Most of the time you can't hear what they are singing. Just my opinion.

Helen...i listen to Groban also. same here, bought his CD after discovering him on Ally Mcbeal. Unfortunately his second album was a flop!

5xmom...Aiyoh!!! gotta continue story ah? Been very busy these few days because I just gave my asst. manager his marching orders wor. Can skip me for a few more people first ah? solly ah!

Ah Pek....i dun like pavarotti chapatti wan. Dun know what they fark he mumbling and damn lan see wan this fellow.

SCB....can, you can raba-raba me and pretend that you are doing it with him also can. LOL

Ah Pek.....ngor ho mmm tak han leh, this few days. Gotta skip me for a few ppl first.

Waa, after the classy concert, cocka also became classy like Trump ar??

YOU'RE FIRED ASST MGR!!

LOL

mr. cocka, our local radio station DID promote patrizio's album wey! twas on light & easy ... his songs were played nearly to death at that time! LOL! and oh, he IS to die for!!! i love Il Mondo & A Man Without Love...

any interesting musicals/concerts in Sg this June?

man..if i go to that sorta concert, i sure fall asleep one lah!

Helen...no lar, this asst manager damn hopeless one. He was rated very poorly during our 360 degrees evaluation....so he was 'coaxed' to resign. Now it sounds better.

angel....Local radio got promote meh? Don't know leh. Down south we always tuned to kiasuland radio leh. i stopped listening to local radio because they interrupt the songs 5 times a day. Get what I mean?
Damn sian.Concerts in kiasuland ah? Try this link. http://www.sistic.com.sg
There's "Grease" the musical coing to KL if any of you silais are interested.

Wuching....no lah you won't fall asleep. The orchestra drums sound would frighten the wits out of you. LOL.
Besides, there are so many leng luis to oggle at when bored.

Bocelli - Secret Arias or whatever the name. Zzzzzz....And I am supposed to appreciate. Maybe one day Cocka can culture it?

coaxed? lol Intimidation or blackmail?? :-P lol

5xmom....It's Sacred Arias. No you are suppose to fall asleep to this. LOL

Helen....'Persuasion' is the right word. I've been in & out of the labor ministry previously dealing with complaints by disgruntled staff on instant dismissal, so I know how to work within the legality confines.
The reason why we practice instant dismissal is due to the nature of our work. Senior staff have access to a lot of confidential information. A disgruntled staff can do a lot of damage or plant a 'virus' to the system. The risks are enormous, and so we don't take chances.
